He’s blonde, he’s brassy, and he’s brash. But some people just love him! He was born in Scotland in 1966, but he grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He wanted to be a soccer player but prevented because of permanent injury. He went back to college for hotel management. He worked with some of the leading chefs in London and France.
In 1993, Gordon Ramsay headed Aubergine in London and within three years, received two Michelin stars. He went on to open Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 1998, now London’s longest running restaurant to hold three Michelin stars.
Ramsay has many successful restaurants all over the globe. He is a star internationally because of his FOX television shows including Hell’s Kitchen, Masterchef, and Hotel Hell. He has other shows in the UK as well.
He has authored several books, including his autobiography, Roasting in Hell’s Kitchen. He also has a partnership with Waterford, Wedgwood, and Royal Doulton group offering quality home and lifestyle products.
In 2006, Ramsay received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II. He and his wife Tana head the Gordon & Tana Ramsay Foundation.
